π 8 Days Morocco Imperial Cities, Mountains & Desert Tour
ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival in Casablanca β Hassan II Mosque & Seaside Promenade
Your Moroccan adventure begins as you land at Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport, where you will be greeted and transferred to the city. Depending on your arrival time, youβll enjoy a first introduction to Moroccoβs largest city, the countryβs economic and cultural hub.
The highlight today is a visit to the Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the world and an icon of Moroccan architecture. Built partly over the Atlantic Ocean, its 210-meter minaret towers over the city, while the interiors dazzle with hand-carved cedar, marble, and traditional zellij tilework.
Later, take a leisurely walk along the Corniche seaside promenade, where cafΓ©s and ocean views set the tone for your journey. The evening is free to relax and prepare for the adventure ahead.
Overnight in Casablanca.

Day 2: Casablanca β Meknes β Volubilis β Fez
After breakfast, depart for Meknes, once the capital of Morocco under Sultan Moulay Ismail. The drive takes you through rolling countryside before reaching this imperial city known as the “Versailles of Morocco.” Visit Bab Mansour, one of the most impressive city gates in North Africa, and explore El Hedim Square, where locals gather around food stalls and storytellers. You will also step inside the Royal Granaries & Stables, once designed to feed the entire city and house the Sultanβs 12,000 horses.
A short drive leads you to Volubilis, the ancient Roman city and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stroll through the remarkably preserved ruins, admiring the mosaics, triumphal arch, and remnants of Roman villas while learning about Moroccoβs importance in the Roman Empire.
Continue through the fertile Saiss plains, dotted with olive groves and vineyards, before arriving in Fez, Moroccoβs cultural and spiritual capital.

Day 3: Fez β Full-Day Guided Exploration of the Medina
Today is dedicated to discovering the treasures of Fez el-Bali, the old city of Fez and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This labyrinthine Medina is the worldβs largest car-free urban area, filled with bustling souks, workshops, and hidden gems.
Begin at the ornate Bab Boujloud (Blue Gate) before entering the winding alleys where donkeys remain the main mode of transport. Visit the Bou Inania Madrasa, a 14th-century Quranic school showcasing beautiful cedar and stucco work. From there, continue to the colorful Chouara Tanneries, where leather is dyed in large stone vats using centuries-old techniques.
Your exploration also takes you to the University of Al-Qarawiyyin, founded in 859 and recognized as the oldest university in the world still in operation. Wander through artisan quarters where brassworkers, weavers, and potters continue ancient crafts.
In the afternoon, visit Fez el-Jdid, the Royal Palace gates, and the historic Mellah (Jewish Quarter). End the day with panoramic views over the Medina from Borj Nord fortress before returning to your riad.

Day 4: Fez β Cooking Class & Free Afternoon
This morning offers a hands-on cultural experience as you join a traditional Moroccan cooking class. Begin with a visit to a lively local market, where your chef will introduce you to Moroccan spices, fresh herbs, and seasonal ingredients. Back in the kitchen, learn how to prepare a variety of classic dishes such as aromatic tagines, fluffy couscous, or the sweet-and-savory pastilla.
After enjoying your home-cooked lunch, the afternoon is free for personal discovery. You may choose to stroll through artisan workshops, visit the pottery quarter of Fez, or simply relax in a tranquil riad. For those seeking rejuvenation, a traditional hammam and spa experience can also be arranged.

Day 5: Fez β Agafay Desert (via Marrakech)
Today is a day of contrasts as you leave Fez and journey south. The drive passes through ever-changing scenery, from fertile valleys to olive groves and the arid landscapes of central Morocco. Arrive in vibrant Marrakech by afternoon before continuing into the nearby Agafay Desert, a rocky plateau at the edge of the Atlas Mountains.
Upon arrival, youβll trade wheels for a camel or quad bike and ride into the desert terrain as the sun begins to set over the horizon. Unlike the sand dunes of the Sahara, Agafay offers a dramatic lunar-like setting, especially stunning against the snow-capped Atlas peaks in the distance.
Tonight, gather around the fire for music, storytelling, and a magical evening under the stars. A traditional Moroccan dinner will be served at your luxury desert camp.

You will enjoy a guided hike (1β2 hours) through terraced fields, walnut groves, and mountain paths with sweeping views. Midday, share a home-cooked lunch with a local Berber family, a memorable experience that allows you to connect with Moroccoβs mountain culture.
In the afternoon, return to Marrakech, where the rest of the day is at leisure. You may choose to relax in your riad, wander the souks, or sip tea in a rooftop cafΓ© overlooking the lively streets.

Continue to the Bahia Palace, a 19th-century residence filled with gardens, mosaics, and ornate courtyards. Nearby, the Saadian Tombs, rediscovered in 1917, reveal the grandeur of Moroccoβs Saadian dynasty.
In the afternoon, explore the colorful Majorelle Garden, designed by French painter Jacques Majorelle and later restored by Yves Saint Laurent. Its cobalt-blue walls and exotic plants make it one of Marrakechβs most photographed sites.
Your tour concludes in the vibrant souks and the legendary Jemaa el-Fna square, a UNESCO-listed cultural space where snake charmers, musicians, acrobats, and food stalls create an unforgettable atmosphere.
