At 4,167 m, Mount Toubkal is the highest peak in North Africa. Our 2-Day Toubkal Trek is a challenging yet accessible adventure that requires no prior mountaineering experience, making it ideal for fit and enthusiastic hikers.
Starting just a couple of hoursβ drive from Marrakech, this trek allows you to summit Mount Toubkal and return within two days, offering breathtaking panoramic views from the highest point in the High Atlas Mountains. The experience is both physically rewarding and visually spectacular, showcasing the rugged beauty of Moroccoβs mountains.
After completing the trek, youβll still have time to explore Marrakech, Moroccoβs vibrant and captivating city, making this a perfect combination of adventure and cultural immersion.
Day 1: Marrakech β Toubkal Refuge

After a transfer to the picturesque village of Imlil π‘, we begin our trek along the scenic Mizane Valley πΏ. The trail first passes through the village of Aremd, then leads to the sacred shrine of Sidi Chamarouch π, a site visited by both pilgrims and tourists.
Continuing east, the route crosses the flood plains and follows mule tracks ascending into the high rocky cliffs β°οΈ above the valley. Along the way, we cross the river and gradually climb toward the Toubkal Refuge (3,206 m ποΈ), following a steady path that snakes and zigzags up to the snowline.
Here, we spend the night in the Toubkal Refuge dormitories ποΈ, surrounded by breathtaking mountain scenery. Dinner is served at the refuge, providing a chance to rest and prepare for the summit climb the next day.

Early in the morning, we begin our summit attempt of Jebel Toubkal (4,167 m ποΈ), the highest peak in North Africa. Our route ascends the south cirque, crossing the stream above the Toubkal Refuge. While the walk is relatively straightforward, the scree and high altitude make certain sections challenging, rewarding you with an unforgettable sense of achievement.
Upon reaching the summit, youβll be treated to breathtaking panoramic views π. Look north to the High Atlas, south to the Anti-Atlas and the Sahara, and across the Marrakech Plainβall visible from this commanding vantage point.
After soaking in the views, we descend the same route, returning to Imlil π‘. From there, we transfer back to Marrakech π, arriving by the evening and concluding your 2-Day Toubkal Trek adventure.
