Day 1: Fes β Ifrane - Azrou - Midelt - Merzouga

Your adventure begins with a scenic drive south from Fes into the Middle Atlas Mountains. The first stop is in Ifrane, often called the βSwitzerland of Moroccoβ for its alpine-style houses and clean mountain air. Continuing on, we pass through Azrou, famous for its cedar forests where youβll have the chance to see Barbary macaque monkeys π in their natural habitat.
We then cross the Tizi nβTalghamt Pass and continue to Midelt, a small town known for its apple orchards and breathtaking mountain views. From here, the landscape transforms dramatically as we follow the Ziz Gorges, carved into volcanic rock, and descend towards the Sahara. The scenery shifts from lush mountains to dry plateaus, with the first golden hints of desert dunes appearing on the horizon.
After a break for lunch near Errachidia, we continue through the palm-filled Ziz Valley π΄, dotted with traditional mud-brick villages, before arriving in Erfoud, the gateway to the Sahara Desert.

Wake up early for a magical sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes π , a breathtaking moment where the golden sands seem to glow in every direction. Afterward, your camel guide will lead you on a peaceful camel trek back across the dunes to your riad, giving you one last chance to admire the ever-changing colors of the desert.
Following a hearty breakfast, we depart for Tinghir and the spectacular Todra Gorge, one of Moroccoβs natural wonders. These towering canyon walls, rising up to 300 meters, create a dramatic landscape perfect for a gentle walk along the riverbed or short hikes into the gorge.
After lunch in the gorge, we continue our journey through the Dades Valley, famous for its lush greenery, ancient kasbahs, and unusual rock formations known as the βMonkey Toesβ πΎ. In the afternoon, we cross the majestic Tizi nβTichka Pass (2,260m) β°οΈ, the highest road in Morocco, winding through breathtaking mountain scenery, Berber hamlets, and terraced fields.
