π Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech β Toubkal Refuge
π Transport: 1.5 hours | π§ Guide: Included | π΄ Mule Support: Included | π½οΈ Meals: Lunch & Dinner | π₯Ύ Hiking Duration: 5β6 hours | π Distance: 12 km | β°οΈ Elevation Gain: +1,450 m
The trek departs from Marrakech around 9:00 AM π (seasonal variations apply) for an exhilarating 1.5-hour transfer π south through the dramatic Mly Brahim gorges to the Berber town of Imlil (1,740 m π‘). Nestled in the upper foothills of the Western High Atlas Mountains, Imlil is a major trailhead, with mule paths branching off in all directions.
From Imlil, we trek approximately 8 km π₯Ύ to the picturesque village of Sidi Chamharouch, set beside a waterfall and stream. The villageβs pisΓ© homes appear built one into another, creating a charming and unique atmosphere. Sidi Chamharouch is a place of pilgrimage for devout Muslims, home to a marabout shrine πβa sacred site not accessible to non-Muslims and believed to originate from pre-Islamic religious traditions.
We pause for a field picnic π΄ with full views of the mighty Jbel Toubkal (4,167 m β°οΈ), the highest peak in the Maghreb. After lunch, the trek continues up to the Toubkal Refuge, where dinner is served and you stay overnight in the refugeβs dormitory-style accommodation ποΈ.

Day 2: Mount Toubkal
π½οΈ Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner | π₯Ύ Hiking Duration: Approx. 5β6 hours | β°οΈ Elevation Gain: +961 m / -961 m | π Distance: 12β14 km
We begin early with breakfast π₯ before setting out around 6:00 AM π for the climb to Jebel Toubkal (4,167 m ποΈ), the highest peak in the Maghreb. The climb is non-technical but steep, taking approximately 3 hours, and offers breathtaking panoramic viewsβthe highlight of your trek.
The first recorded ascent of Toubkal was made in 1923 by French mountaineers V. Berger, M. Doubleau, and the Marquis de Segonzac, and the mountain has since attracted countless trekkers seeking this highly rewarding experience.
After enjoying the summit views, we descend via the Ikkhibi Sud / South Cirque π₯Ύ, a straightforward route with your guide, taking 2β3 hours back toward the Toubkal Refuge π‘. Here, we enjoy a picnic lunch π΄, followed by a gentle hike down in the afternoon.
The day concludes with dinner and overnight accommodation ποΈ at the refuge, giving you a chance to rest and reflect on your remarkable achievement.

Day 3: Toubkal Refuge β Marrakech
π½οΈ Meals: Breakfast & Lunch | π₯Ύ Hiking Duration: Approx. 4 hours | π Distance: 12 km | β°οΈ Elevation Change: -1,326 m
After breakfast π₯, we set off north along steep, zigzagging trails π₯Ύ descending from the higher slopes of the Assif n’Isougan n’Ouagounss Valley toward the Berber village of Sidi Chamharouch (3,106 m ποΈ).
Before entering the village, your guide will show you a sacred tree π³, adorned with colored cloth strips and stonesβa traditional site of significance for the local Berber communities. After a brief stop to relax, particularly welcome on a warm day, we continue the descent high above the Assif AΓ―t Mizane Valley, winding down granite and basalt grey rocks for approximately 8 km to reach the fertile Berber village of Aroumd (Aremd, 1,840 m π‘), surrounded by terraced fields of maize, onions, and fruit trees.
We pause for a picnic lunch π΄, before taking a well-defined mule track that zigzags along the valley floor for 4 km, arriving at Imlil around 1β2 PM. Here, enjoy a welcome glass of traditional mint tea π΅ at the home of our senior guide. Following this, we transfer back to Marrakech π, arriving around 4 PM and concluding your unforgettable trek through the High Atlas Mountains.
