Valley of Roses Trek
The valley of roses trek, Morocco is a fantastic holiday which not only visits splendid rose’s gardens of the region but also journeys along and through the waters of L’Oued M’Goun and deep gorges. At times it is necessary to walk through the refreshing, shallow waters of the river. You will be able to explore many charming red ochre Moroccan villages and enjoy striking views of Jebel Sahro. April and May are the best months to see the beautiful displays of roses growing along the route. At the beginning and end of your trek you can spend time in Marrakech where you can visit the De Jemma el Fna and wander through the medina’s and souks whilst shopping for your souvenirs. You can also enjoy sampling different cuisines in the open air cafes.
Day 1 - Marrakech – Roses valley
Meet your guide and driver and head south through Tichka pass (2260m) in high atals mountains to Ouarzazate where you stop for lunch in a local restaurant .In the afternoon, you continue driving to the village of Ihart (1200m)in roses’s valley .Dinner and night in a berber house. *06hs drive
Day 2: Roses valley - Tighrmatine
Meet your team of muleteers and cooks, and then you start your walk through the farming land to join the deserted plateau to the village of Imgharen where you have a panoramic view of the lush valley .Walk down to have a picnic lunch by the stream before you carry on your walk through orchards to your camp in Tigharmatine (1400m). *06hs walk
Day 3: Tighrmatine - Rbat
This morning, you carry on your walk through orchards through remote berber villages perched to mountain slopes .Stop in Timstiguite(1600m) for a picnic lunch. In the afternoon, you gradually climb on a mule path to Amougltate pass (2100m).Then a gentle downhill to your camp near the village of Rbat. (1700m).Dinner and overnight in camp. *06hs walk
Day 4: Rbat - Ighrem Aqdim
A walk through villages to Boutaghrar where you join the Mgoun river to Tamglouna (1600m) .Stop for a picnic lunch. Continue along the river to your camp in Ighrem Aqdim(1700m).Dinner and overnight in camp.
Day 5 - Ighrem Aqdim – Ouarzazate
Today a gentle climb over the village to join a deserted plateau. From here you will be quite level to the village of Ait Iyoul in Dades valley.A picnic break before you meet your driver and drive through Ouarzazate.Dinner and overnight in hotel. *03hs walk *05hs drive
Day 6 - Ouarzazate - Telouet – Marrakech
After breakfast we will visit Taourirt Kasbah before departing to Ait Benhaddou to visit the World Heritage Site. We will continue with a visit to the traditional High Atlas Berber village of Telouet and the Kasbah el Glaoui. We will have lunch in a local restaurant in Telouet before descending the Tizi-n-Tichka to Marrakech.
