Day 1 β Marrakech β Imlil β Toubkal Refuge

We depart Marrakech around 9:00 AM, winding through the stunning Mouly Brahim gorges, where terraced fields, small streams, and traditional Berber villages create a picturesque landscape. Along the way, enjoy the contrast of red-earth mountains, olive groves, and river valleys that mark the High Atlas foothills.
Arriving in Imlil (1750 m), the main trekking hub, youβll see mule caravans, small guesthouses, and the bustle of local markets. The trek begins from here, following a scenic path 8 km up to Sidi Chamharouch (2315 m). This village, set beside a waterfall and stream, is a spiritual site with a Marabout shrine, historically significant and restricted to non-Muslims.
Stop for a picnic lunch while taking in views of Jbel Toubkal (4167 m), North Africaβs highest peak. The trail continues to Toubkal Refuge (3207 m), nestled among rugged peaks and alpine meadows. Dinner and overnight are in dormitory-style accommodation, with the mountain air and evening silence providing a serene setting.

Day 2 β Summit Mount Toubkal
After an early 6:00 AM breakfast, the ascent to Mount Toubkal (4167 m) begins. The climb is steep but non-technical, passing alpine meadows, rocky ridges, and sparse shrubs adapted to high elevations. Trekking through this dramatic landscape, youβll witness the play of light across the valleys and peaks.
The summit offers 360Β° panoramic views, including neighboring peaks, deep valleys, and terraced villages far below. Itβs a moment for reflection and photographyβthe reward for your effort.
Descend via Ikkhibi Sud (South Cirque), a straightforward but scenic route, taking 2β3 hours back to the Refuge. Lunch is served with a backdrop of mountains and glaciers. The afternoon allows time for rest, light hiking, or photography, soaking in the alpine ambiance.

Day 3 β Toubkal Refuge β Imlil

Descend north along Assif nβIsougan nβOuagounss Valley, observing terraced fields, riverbeds, and small Berber farms. Return to Sidi Chamharouch (2315 m), where a sacred Berber tree, decorated with colored cloths and stones, reflects ancient local customs.
Continue the descent to Aroumd (Aremd, 1850 m), a fertile valley surrounded by maize, onion, and fruit-tree terraces. The path follows zigzagging trails, with stops for photography and picnic lunch.
Arrive in Aroumd early afternoon; spend your free time exploring the village, visiting local markets, or relaxing at a traditional Berber lodge. This immersive experience offers a glimpse into daily Berber life and customs.

Day 4 β Atlas Mountains β Dades Gorge

Visit Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site, famous for its mudbrick Kasbahs and cinematic history (Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia). Climb to the hilltop for panoramic views of the ksar and surrounding desert plains.
Continue through Skoura Palm Grove, Valley of Roses, and the unusual rock formations of Tamnalt Hills, before arriving at Dades Gorge. Overnight in a traditional Moroccan-style hotel amidst towering red and mauve cliffs.

Arrive at Erg Chebbi dunes, the gateway to the Sahara Desert. Enjoy traditional mint tea, then embark on a sunset camel trek to the desert camp oasis. Dinner is served under the stars in a nomadic-style tent, accompanied by Berber music, creating an unforgettable desert experience.
