🌴2 Days Zagora Sahara Desert & Kasbahs

• Distance: ~360 km | Driving time: 7–8 hours (with sightseeing stops)

• After breakfast, departure from Marrakech in a private vehicle. The adventure begins by crossing the High Atlas Mountains via the winding Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 m) 🏔️. Along the way, you’ll pass terraced fields, small Berber villages clinging to the mountainsides, and dramatic valleys perfect for photos.

• Stop at Ait Ben Haddou 🏰, the most famous ksar (fortified village) in Morocco, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This ancient mud-brick citadel has featured in films such as Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, and Game of Thrones. Explore its narrow lanes and take in panoramic views from the top.

• Continue to Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa” 🎬 thanks to its film studios and desert scenery. Optional stop at the Taourirt Kasbah, a historic fortress once belonging to the Glaoui family.

• From here, the road leads into the Draa Valley, Morocco’s longest oasis 🌴, stretching nearly 200 km with lush palm groves, fortified villages (ksour), and ancient kasbahs. The valley is the gateway to the Sahara and offers endless photo opportunities.

• Arrive in Zagora by late afternoon. Meet your camel caravan for a sunset camel trek 🐪 across the desert landscape.

• Evening arrival at your desert camp, where you’ll enjoy a traditional dinner under the stars ✨ and live Berber drumming around the campfire.

Wake early to witness the breathtaking sunrise over the desert dunes 🌅, a magical moment as the first light paints the Sahara in golden tones.

After breakfast, return by camel or 4×4 to Zagora town.

Drive back along the Draa Valley, with more time to enjoy the palm groves, traditional ksour, and small mud-brick villages. Stop in Agdz, a charming town with views of the Jebel Kissane Mountains and hundreds of kasbahs scattered among the palms.

Cross the Anti-Atlas Mountains, a region of rugged landscapes and dramatic gorges.

Arrive again in Ouarzazate for a lunch break or optional visit to a kasbah or film studio.

Continue across the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, descending gradually back toward Marrakech. Expect panoramic views, winding roads, and small Berber villages along the way.

Evening arrival in Marrakech (around 19:00–20:00), drop-off at your hotel/riad.
